Mechline Developments Limited is a Leader in Commercial Catering and Foodservice Equipment.

Hardware Background

They are using a Windows 2003 SBS Server with 15 clients connecting using Windows XP Pro Edition Workstations.  Disk space was at a premium and the need for a new CRM system meant the current server had to be upgraded.  Remote access to the server for the Sales Reps also needed to be addressed.

Initial Solution

Networx-IT Solutions implemented a new Drive Cage and Back Plane to enable the addition of 2 extra drives.  With the new mirror in place, data was moved from the old partitions to the new and resized.  The RAM was increased also to take into account the installation and day to day running of Microsoft CRM.

Ongoing Solutions

The introduction of a Terminal server alleviated the need for the Sales Reps to logon to the main SBS server.  It is also been used to run the Bespoke software and also Sage.  The introduction of the Microsoft CRM software facilitated the need for stronger perimeter security so the SonicWALL TZ170 firewall was put in place.  The Sales Reps also have an HTC handset for Remote Access to the CRM server.

Result

Overall, there has been a significant improvement for reliability, service and productivity which has catered for not only the internal users but also the external users/Road Warriors.
